DJ Dovla - Ozora Festival 2009

My first set on the main floor of an international psytrance festival, this was quite an experience. I enjoyed every single moment and even though I was very nervous in the start the crowd was so welcoming to the music that I played that I soon forgot about it. Having a chill out set the night before and a nasty flu that I caught didn’t help but I managed to pull it off anyway. I can’t say I’m too fond of the Allen & Heath xone92 mixer that was up there, I’m more of a Pioneer person I guess. Still it has other advantages for sure. I was supposed to play for 2 hours but the organizer was generous enough to let me play an extra hour and that really helped me try and build a proper story. I’m very happy with how it all turned out, minus the last beatmix (we’re all human tongue wink ). The bitrate is a lower quality one because of the fact that there are some unreleased tracks in there. When they do get out I will upload a better quality version.

Thanks for the Ozora!!! Your chill-out set was best of ozora, after so much trancedancing it was even more fun, crazy, conscious, thought provoking and refreshing in all levels to have such cool music!

Maybe there is coming somekind of a tracklist also for the chill? It would help the long winternights in North-world…

see ya next time and thanks also for the brilliant main floor set!

I have to admit I had never heard of you before Ozora, but your main floor set was one of my favourites of the festival, really happy music perfect for dancing on a sunny afternoon! Thanks!

Dude, this is awesome. After 3 years of searching someone finally uploaded a set from Ozora; and an excellent one at that. cool smile

I have to say you were one of the best acts on both floors and I’ve been googling all week for tracks from your chillout set based on tiny bits I can remember.  Excellent work.

thank you all for the lovely comments, I’m really happy that I managed to touch so many people with the music, 2010 is gonna see more gigs for sure so you’ll get to hear me at the summer festivals again, if not sooner…to answer some of your questions, I’m afraid the chill out floor set wasn’t recorded and there were some technical issues with the gear up there. However I will probably do a chill out mix for fluid radio soon so something fresh will be available for sure.

As for the chill out tracklist I can’t really remember it all but I suggest you check out labels such as Omelette, Tru Thoughts and Ninja Tune…that covers most of the funky trip hop stuff I played, acts like Tm Juke, Kinny, Quantic, Bonobo and of course Spoonbill..

So much for now, keep checking the website, the main page has a list of my upcoming gigs..oh and I’m gonna try and record all of my sets in the future

again, thank you all!  smile

Hey Dovla, how are you doing!?
I was searching for good videos of psy trance festivals around the word… Ozora is one that i hear it… and what a nice surprise, there are 2 videos of your set in the main floor… uauuuu!!! nice music yes!!! not psytrance, not house, not full moon trance… no “labels” but very energizing music! fantastic for a nice morning in a festival… normally, the music in the morning are too much hard or too much quiet, but not yours!!
Contratulations for your music, your set and thank you very much for upload to your page.
Good luck in your life!

JC from Spain

Hi Dovla, I heard your chill out set at Ozora and enjoyed it very much (seem to remember a fantastic cover of a Michael Jackson “smooth criminal” - was that you?).

I missed your main set as I had to leave to go back to work, but I’ve just downloaded it and listened to it twice in the car to work (yes it’s a long drive). It’s the finest piece of music I’ve heard since James Lavelle’s Global Underground Barcelona CD1 (which was from 2002!).

Throbbing, pulsating, progressive. I’m sure it made a refreshing break at Ozora - I was getting a bit bored of the same psy trance beats all day. I think the set would have been better at night… maybe when you are a headline act then you can choose!

Love the way you bring the bass back in at the right moment - really helps to keep the energy going. I like 95% of your tracks which is remarkable for a 3 hour set - where did you find all that good music?!

Anyway, I hope you are playing again this year. I will be there, and looking out for your set. Please play a similar style and don’t be tempted to make it any more psychedelic!!

Hey there mate, thanks a lot for the kind words, even if it’s almost an entire year after this gig I’m really glad people are so moved by the music I played smile

I’m afraid that I won’t be playing at Ozora this year, I had to choose between that and going to Mafia festival in Africa…so I’m sure you understand why I chose the latter wink It’s a new adventure and I’m involved a lot more than just DJing

You can see all the gigs I am doing this year on the main page, there are quite a few and I’m doing both chill and prog sets on many of them…Aurora and Indian spirit are all pretty close to Ozora

As for the chill set on Ozora, yes I do believe that I played the Smooth Criminal remix…it’s done by J-Viewz

Cheers and again, thanks for the kind words smile

Hi Dovla, thanks for the reply! I can’t blame you for choosing Mafia, I suppose it’s a one-off that could go down in history.

We were thinking about going to Aurora this year (just to see AKD) but ultimately the prospect of the extreme heat put an end to that idea (we are day-time partiers!). Didn’t fancy Boom either - too many people, and not enough focus on the music. Our beloved Glade has also been cancelled this year….. so back to Ozora we go!

If you get a gig in the UK sometime, we’ll be there. Sooner rather than later I hope.

Keep up the great work - it is greatly appreciated.

Booking Details

Neon Bookings

Interested in booking me for your party, festival or any other gathering? All of my International bookings outside Croatia are now handled exclusively by The Neon Bookings Agency. The basic requirements are of course transportation, a place to stay and above all, a positive vibe. For other details such as the fee it depends on the size of the venue so just get in touch with Simon Baring or Samantha Lasbury at info@neonbookings.com. As for Croatia I handle all the bookings myself so if you are a local organizer just get in touch with me directly via email: contact@dovla.info

As far as the music selection goes I'm fairly flexible. For the more dancefloor oriented stuff I play mostly progressive trance and for the laid back side chill out music of all shapes and sizes.

I prefer long sets which is especially the case with my Chill out stuff since I always try to cover a broad spectrum of it. Anything from IDM to glitch, glitch hop and trip hop goes. But it's best for you to just download some of the mixes on this section to get a good idea of what it is I play. In case you want to book me for an International gig I always prefer to do both sets.
