What a blast!

So the summer festival season is finally over for me. It’s been such an amazing experience again, I’ve met a lot of new people and had tons of fun spinning the music I love. The first festival I had the pleasure of going to was the Sonica Reloaded festival in Italy, maybe around 40 kilometers north from Rome. Around 3600 people gathered in a beautiful location in the Italian countryside. It was a bit dusty and the sun was really burning but the best thing about the location was the fact that it had a really cold stream flowing through it. So any time you wanted to, you could just lay down in the water and refresh yourself, something that’s really a big plus to have at such festivals. Also the spot had farm animals like horses and donkeys which made the people feel even more relaxed. Everything was easy going and even though my set on the Chill Out lasted only for an hour and a half I still got some nice feedback. I’m never gonna play for such short periods of time again though. It’s very frustrating to try and fit in so many different musical styles into such a short period of time.

But the amazing thing about the venue (apart from many things) was the funktion one sound system. This was the first time I’ve heard it and after hearing only good things about it from many people I can surely say that it’s probably the best sound system I’ve ever heard, crystal clear, sharp and in your face. Overall everything went really smooth in Italy and I enjoyed going alone to a festival and just hanging out with new people as opposed to the other two that followed.

After flying back to Zagreb and resting for 2 days I sat in my car with some friends and drove down to Pula for a small Croatian festival called Future Nature. It was a very short experience since we only came for 2 days. The deco was amazing and the vibe was also very laid back. I would have loved to stay longer but the fact that I had to drive to Ozora made me come back to Zagreb sooner. Again after a day of resting and organizing everything we sat in the car and drove to the biggest European psytrance festival this summer. There were roughly around 14000 people, double of what they had last year so naturally things didn’t go as smooth as before. But I find myself in a position where I can’t really view the festival as a paying visitor (D’OH, I’m not one) so most of the time I kept thinking about my sets and what to play and how to do it.

The night before my chill out set I slept in the hammock outside and caught a nasty flu, to make matters worse I had to play the two sets pretty close to one another. My chill out floor set got pushed forward another hour and the guy who was supposed to play after was late so I ended up playing from 3am till around 6:30am with a really sore throat, went to sleep for 3 hours and when I woke up I found out that my set on the main floor was going to start an hour early. So I started playing from 12 until 15. Suddenly I was no longer nervous because of the big crowd, instead I just wanted the coughing and temperature to stay away until I was done. I can’t even believe how I managed to pull it all off and I just collapsed afterward. It was a real pleasure to play for such a nice crowd of people who really appreciated the music and created such a lovely atmosphere for me. I want to thank each and everyone who was there, it would never be so fun and fulfilling without your support. In case you missed my set I have some good news, it was recorded and it is now online in the music section. The bitrate is a bit lower because of the fact that there were some unreleased tracks in there but when they do get out I will upload a better quality version.

So again, thanks to all the lovely people I met during my summer travels, I can only hope we will meet again next year somewhere, here’s a youtube clip from my set @ Ozora just for the fun of it…

Cheers!
